EatTrainLead has no account and no server that holds your data. Everything you log stays on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We cannot see it, and we do not collect, sell, or share it.
This policy covers the EatTrainLead iOS app and its home-screen widgets, published by ChanoSys LLC.
This is not the policy for the eattrainlead.com website. The website is a separate product with different data practices: it has visitors, and may use analytics or a mailing list. The app has neither. For the website, see eattrainlead.com/privacy-policy.html.
All of this is entered by you, and all of it stays on your device:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Profile | Name, date of birth, height, weight, goal weight, body-fat percentage, strength maxes, goals |
| Eat | Meals and macros, custom foods, food lists, supplements, fasting sessions, ketone readings |
| Train | Workouts, sets and reps, cardio sessions, exercise snacks, sleep, soreness, HRV, sauna sessions |
| Lead | Daily intentions and reflections, leadership habits, decision journal entries, reading notes |
| Settings | Units, notification preferences, sync frequency, app-lock preference |
Some of this is free text you write yourself. Journal entries and decision-journal notes in particular can contain whatever you choose to put in them. It is stored the same way as everything else: on your device, and in your own iCloud if sync is on.
Everything is stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
If iCloud is enabled on your device, the app syncs to your private CloudKit database so your data appears on your other devices. Nothing is written to a public or shared iCloud database. That storage belongs to your Apple Account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to it. You can stop this at any time in iOS Settings by turning off iCloud for EatTrainLead; the app continues to work with sync off.
With your explicit permission, EatTrainLead reads from and writes to Apple Health.
Where it goes. Health data is read directly from Apple Health on your device. Workouts, sleep, and HRV that you import are saved into the app's own storage, which means that, like the rest of your data, they are mirrored to your private iCloud if sync is enabled. Steps, energy, and distance are read only to display and are not stored by the app. Health data is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and is never used for advertising or marketing.
You can review or revoke any individual permission at any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps & Services › EatTrainLead. Revoking a permission does not delete data already imported into the app; remove that using the reset options in section 9. Deleting the app's data does not delete anything from Apple Health. Use the Health app for that.
The app makes two kinds of outbound request. Both only fetch public information. Neither sends your name, your logged data, an account, a device identifier, or any advertising identifier. There isn't one to send.
When you scan a product barcode, the app sends only the numeric barcode to Open Food Facts, a free open-source food database, to look up nutrition information. Barcode recognition itself happens on your device. No camera image is transmitted or stored. If the product has a photo, your device also loads that image from Open Food Facts' image server to show it to you. Open Food Facts' own privacy terms apply to both requests. If you never scan a barcode, neither request is ever made.
The app's article list, recipe collection, and movement library are published on eattrainlead.com and updated over time. So that new content appears without an app update, the app periodically downloads three small public files listing them, the same files a web browser would fetch. This happens at most a few times a day and is skipped entirely when the local copy is recent.
Nothing is uploaded. Which articles you have read, what you saved, and any notes you wrote stay on your device and in your private iCloud, exactly like the rest of your data. To avoid re-downloading a file that has not changed, the app sends back the version tag the web server itself issued for that file. It is the same tag every reader receives, and it identifies the file, not you.
As with any request to any website, the web host records standard server-log information: the requesting IP address, the time, and the type of client. This is the same information any website receives from any visitor, and it is not linked to an EatTrainLead identity, because there isn't one. The app ships with a built-in copy of all three catalogs, so everything works offline and works if these downloads fail.
Opening an article, or any other external link, hands off to Safari and leaves the app. Browsing from that point on is governed by the policy of the site you land on. For eattrainlead.com, that is the website policy.
Camera access is used for one thing: scanning product barcodes. Scanning happens entirely on your device, no image is saved or transmitted, and the permission is optional. The app is fully usable without it. The app does not request access to your photo library, your location, your microphone, or your contacts.
Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on request, and no request is necessary.
Settings › Your Data › Export Data produces a full JSON copy of everything you have logged, or per-section CSV files. The export includes your free-text journal and decision entries. The file goes wherever you choose to send it via the iOS share sheet; once it leaves the app it is outside the app's control.
EatTrainLead is intended for adults. The app asks you to confirm you are 18 or older before you can use it, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from minors, and, as described above, we do not collect information from anyone.
EatTrainLead is a personal logging and habit-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Scores, trends, and suggestions it produces are informational only. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, training, fasting, or supplement routine, particularly if you have an existing medical condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
