Being straight with you
TallyTrip is an Apple-only app. It's built for iPhone and iPad, and runs as-is on Apple silicon Macs and Vision Pro — but there is no Android version and there won't be one. Sharing runs on Apple's iCloud, which is what lets the app work without a server or an account — but it also means everyone you share a trip with needs an Apple device and the app. If half your group is on Android, Splitwise or Tricount will serve you better, and we would rather tell you that now than after you download.
A few other honest limits: receipt photos don't sync between people (that's deliberate, but it is a limit); there's no web version to check balances from a laptop; the app can't move money, only tell you who owes it; and the interface is English only for now. It also went live in August 2026, so there are barely any reviews yet — you'd be early.
One thing that will change: a one-time optional Pro unlock is planned for a later version, covering brand-new capabilities like receipt scanning. To be exact about what that does and doesn't mean — Pro can only ever add things that don't exist yet. Every feature in TallyTrip 3.0 stays free permanently, the free version will never gain a cap on trips, expenses, members or receipts, and if Pro ships and you ignore it, the app you have keeps working exactly as it does now.
Who built it
TallyTrip is made by Raj Chanolian, a solo developer, under ChanoSys LLC. It exists because my own family and friends kept running into a paywall on a trip — mid-holiday, mid-dinner, with everyone waiting to know what they owed. There was no good reason for splitting a dinner bill to require a subscription, so I built the thing I wanted us to have.
There is no company behind it, no investors, no growth targets, and no server to pay for — which is exactly why "free forever" is a promise I can actually keep. Questions and bug reports go straight to me: support@chanosys.com.
